Stormy Mug (Second)

This wonderful, charismatic and charming mug is looking for a loving home! It is a second, meaning it has a slight imperfection. On the inside of this mug you can see the indentation of my maker's mark pressing upward into the glaze from the bottom of the mug (see close up photo). To be honest, I think this is pretty awesome, as it is a rare occurrence! But in the effort of transparency, I like to list things like that separately so that you know exactly what you are getting! This imperfection poses no issue to the mug's food safety.

This mug is absolutely food/microwave safe and it measures 3.25 inches in height and 3.25 inches in diameter.

This is really a lovely little mug and if you are a fan of unique qualities in a piece of pottery than this mug might be just the coffee/tea/eggnog delivery-server you could love for a lifetime.

As it is considered a second, the price has been reduced accordingly.

The handle on this mug is pulled, which, in my opinion, leads to a more ergonomic feel in the hand. The process of pulling handles is delicate and patient work, as a piece of wet clay is pressed into the leather-hard cup and carefully lengthened into the desired circumference, size and form. Pulled handles are often much more comfortable due to the fact that they are carefully molded from the pressure of the hand and fingers in the process of being made. As a result, our fingers naturally nest into the nooks of the handle, effortlessly falling into a comfortable position. Lastly, the look of a pulled handle is also unique in that they appear to have grown out from the body of the cylinder rather than just attached after the fact. It appears to look as though it has always been there.

As the environment is a large portion of the inspiration in my work, it is also on the forefront of my mind when considering shipping, which is why I make sure to use 100% recyclable materials. The packing tape is water activated, which creates a permanent seal to the box and helps reduce the amount of tape I use (and since the tape is 100% recyclable/biodegradable, it can be recycled with the box itself!). I use a thermal printer to print out my shipping labels (using no ink cartridges) and the backing of the labels are also recyclable. Lastly, to ensure that packages arrive to you safely I take great care in packing up my items to send. I use paper-packing materials are all 100% recyclable and I reuse post-consumer packing materials whenever I can!

Along with the wonderfully grounding feeling of experiencing a handmade object, I feel that it is also my responsibility as an artist and a maker to provide you with piece of mind into the steps I've taken to reduce the amount of waste produced from my shop. The earth provides us with marvel and beauty and I believe that through measures such as these, we get a little bit closer to experiencing our own personal fifth season.

Thank you very much for having a look at this unique piece!

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Doug
