These two mugs has an incredible vibrant verdancy! This green glaze has an ability to simultaneously express light and dark tones in congress and these two pieces are a wonderful example of that quality.
Both of these mugs are very light-weight and have a great feel in the hand. They measure just under 3.5 inches in height and about 3 inches in diameter.
Each mug is $38 with free shipping included.
*Please note* A characteristic of this clay body is that it is more porous and, in turn, these mugs will begin to condensate on the very bottom if liquid is inside for over 20 minutes. Additionally, because of its porosity the outside of these mugs have a unique texture (see close up photos). The handles on all of these mugs are pulled, which, in my opinion, leads to a more ergonomic feel in the hand. The process of pulling handles is delicate and patient work, as a piece of wet clay is pressed into the leather-hard cup and carefully lengthened into the desired circumference, size and form. Pulled handles are often much more comfortable due to the fact that they are carefully molded from the pressure of the hand and fingers in the process of being made. As a result, our fingers naturally nest into the nooks of the handles, effortlessly falling into a comfortable position. Lastly, the look of a pulled handle is also unique in that they appear to have grown out from the body of the cylinder rather than just attached after the fact. They appear to look as though they have always been there.
These pieces are food/microwave/dishwasher safe as well! To help bolster the likelihood of longevity with these pieces I typically differ to hand washing them but they will be fine in the dishwasher as well. Since the bottom of these pieces are not glazed they could absorb dishwasher detergent and slightly discolor over time but that does not compromise the food-safety of these piece.
